Description
The rock formation is called the 'Devil's Backbone' and is part of the protruding Dakota group west of Loveland, Colorado along Highway 34.
Lots of hikers take a trail along the backbone in northern Colorado. The rocks run under the central United States and continue west thru Kansas until they pop up along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.
If you are hiking in warm weather, keep a sharp lookout for an “occasional” snake that you may meet along the way…
Some digital effects were applied to the original image after the photograph was made. No electrons were harmed during the transition.
